Hello everyone!
This Week's Playlist - Season 3, Episode 20.
Today was the last round of the English Premier League, with the final day of the 2024 season. And the Euro is starting in a couple of weeks.
I won't go into details about the results or predictions for the Euro, but I wanted to take the opportunity to pick up some nerdy songs about Football this week.
There is a YouTube link for each of the songs on the cover, and here are the playlists for each streaming platform:
1. Scary Pockets feat. Darren Criss - Wonderwall
Manchester City just won the Premier League earlier today.
What better way to start this week's playlist than with their most prominent supporters, Oasis and a cover of Wonderwall, often played on the home stadium's speakers.
A funk cover, for a change.
2. UFO - Doctor Doctor
Manchester City was playing West Ham today.
One of West Ham's biggest supporters is Steve Harris, the Iron Maiden mastermind (he even played for the West Ham Under-16s team).
I played a lot of Iron Maiden on this playlist, so for a change, here is the song they are used to play on the PA before each of their gig.
3. Faithless - God Is A DJ
The late Maxi Jazz, Faithless lead vocalist/MC of the 90s rave music band Faithless, was a huge Crystal Palace supporter (an associate director of the club).
He was honoured by Crystal Palace fans and the club.
4. Stereolab - Lo Book Oscillator
Another indie classic: Stereolab with the beautiful voice of Laetitia Sadier.
The band has a very nerdy link with Football: Tim Gane (Stereolab co-founder) 's dad had many jobs for East Ham United club, a local club from East London, including groundsman and barman.
Stereolab sponsored the club's shirt in the 90s.
5. Stromae - ta fête
The 2014 World Cup Belgian Red Devils anthem from Stromae (and the yet catchy music video).
Until the next time, Godspeed!
Thomas
